Two Year-Olds Running For A Monster Prize
A big pot up for grabs in the next live Newmarket ITV Racing contest in the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes (2:05pm) for the 2 year-olds. It’s an event that has a bit of a ‘two-horse feel’ to it with the Tom Ward runner Woodhay Wonder setting a good standard having won two of her last three.
However, those draw high has won 6 of the last 8 renewals and so the 14-gated Zoulu Chief looks the one to beat.
This Heather Main-trained juvenile has won 3 of her 6 starts, including at York last month and with a rating of 97 is the clear top-marked horse in the field. Regular rider Gina Mangan, who has ridden her to victory in her last two races, remains in the plate.
Can Frankie Dettori Get His 500th Newmarket Winner?
The final Newmarket ITV contest is the Virgin Bet Sun Chariot Stakes (3:15pm) and all eyes will be on a certain Frankie Dettori. The popular Italian is currently sitting on 499 Newmarket winners and his mount is the hot favourite here – Inspiral – his only ride on the day – so we can expect a monster roar and, of course, another big ‘Frankie Flying Dismount’, should be hit the landmark 500 winners in his hometown.
Inspiral is the top-rated in the field and despite looking to face a stern test from the French raider Mqse De Sevigne, is a proven CD winner at the track and having won 7 of her 11 starts knows how to get the job done.
She was last seen winning the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois at Deauville (watch below) in good fashion (her second win in that race) and Frankie has ridden her in all-bar-one of her seven career wins.
There won’t be many people not willing another Dettori delivery here as he looks to land this lucrative Group One for just the second time in his career.
