Therefore, this could be another for the ‘boys in blue’ of Godolphin as their New Kingdom heads here having won well at last time out. That win came over a mile, so we know this 7f trip is fine and represents the Charlie Appleby yard that have a 32% record at the track with their 4+ year-olds (14 from 44). Of those at bigger prices, recent Kempton third Vafortino is another note.

SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 NEWMARKET TIPS: A chance is taken on the Roger Charlton runner here – Ashky – who has been in the frame in all 7 starts. The last of those runs was a bronze medal finish here at HQ last October and gets in off the same mark. All three career wins have also come at Newmarket (1 Rowley, 2 July), while jockey William Buick, who is back in the saddle, is 2-from-2 on the horse. Recent Doncaster scorer Bucephalus can get involved too, while the Frankie Dettori-ridden Unforgotten is sure to be popular as well.

His main threat looks likely to come from Godolphin’s Ottoman Fleet, who is the top-rated in the field, while the recently gelded Reach For The Moon, who is owned by the King, has to be considered if losing his undercarriage has improved him.
