Newcastle missed a good opportunity to close the gap on Manchester United in the Premier League table with a frustrating 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at St. James’ Park.

Dominic Solanke broke the deadlock for the visitors six minutes in the second period but Bournemouth’s lead was short-lived as Fabian Schar won a penalty five minutes later which Anthony Gordon converted to level it up.
The travelling side were back in front soon after thanks to Antoine Semenyo and Andoni Iraola’s side looked to be closing the game out impressively before late substitute Matt Ritchie rescued a draw for Newcastle.
Eddie Howe’s men are now undefeated across their last four outings in the Premier League, picking up two wins over Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks.
Saturday’s result leaves Newcastle in seventh and facing an uphill battle to qualify for Europe next season. The Magpies trail Tottenham Hotspur in fifth by ten points after 25 games played.

Newcastle will look ahead to an important clash in North London against Arsenal next Saturday, where the Magpies will look to win at the Emirates for the first time since 2010.
Bournemouth will leave the North East satisfied with a point but it should’ve been all three. The seasiders are now without a win in their last six Premier League encounters.
