Newcastle are reportedly stepping up their interest in Monaco defender, Axel Disasi, as the Magpies offer the Frenchman a huge contract.

Eddie Howe’s side are preparing for a huge summer after finishing fourth in the Premier League, as European football will return to Tyneside for the first time in over two decades.

Rival fans will be worried over Newcastle’s progress following a Saudi Arabian takeover and the club could be set for a huge window.

Key signings have been key for Eddie Howe’s side and the Toon have added Italian superstar, Sandro Tonali, to their squad this summer.

The Magpies are reportedly keen on signing Monaco defender, Axel Disasi, who is set to leave the French side after attracting interest from a host of European sides.

The 25-year-old has made 129 appearances for Monaco and has become a pivotal member in the French side, despite finishing 6th in Ligue 1.

Manchester United and Liverpool have also shown interest in the stalwart defender, as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his squad next season.

The Red Devils have been linked with a host of names during the early stages of the summer window, including the likes of Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat.

Erik ten Hag secured his first signing of the summer, as Mason Mount swapped Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford in a deal that cost the club £55m plus add ons.

However, Newcastle are in pole position to sign the French defender, as the Magpies have reportedly offered a huge contract and are now in the process of agreeing a fee with Monaco.

The 25-year-old has two-years remaining on his current deal, meaning any bid will need to be in the region of £40m, Otherwise the Ligue 1 side are unlikely to let go of their star man.
