Newcastle are reportedly preparing a £25m bid for Leicester City star, Harvey Barnes, despite the Foxes originally setting a £60m price tag.

The 2022-23 campaign was one to forget for both Harvey Barnes, and the Foxes, as the 2015-16 Premier League winners were relegated from England’s top-flight.

Long-time manager, Brendan Rodgers was made surplus to requirements following a run of poor performances and the club hired former Aston Villa coach, Dean Smith.

Smith was unable to maintain Leicester’s place in the Premier League and was not offered an extended deal at the King Power.

The drop to the Championship has seen a host of players leave the club, as James Maddison and Çağlar Söyüncü move onto pastures new and according to reports, Harvey Barnes is set to leave the the King Power this summer.

Newcastle United are in the running to land the Englishman, as Eddie Howe’s side are preparing a £25m bid – despite the Foxes’ original £60m price tag.

The 25-year-old winger has made 187 appearances for Leicester, after coming through the ranks and has scored 45 goals whilst contributing with 32 assists.

A move to St James’ Park would be a welcomed move for the Foxes academy graduate, following a successful season for the Magpies.

Eddie Howe managed to qualify for the Champions League in his opening season and the Toon have been busy in the summer window.

Former AC Milan star, Sandro Tonali, signed for the club for Tyneside in the opening weeks of the summer and is the first of an expected multitude of signings.

A move for the Leicester City forward could reportedly cost up to £60m, however, Newcastle are reportedly planning a £25m bid and are confident of agreeing a lower fee.

Barnes has two years remaining on his current deal at the King Power, meaning a transfer away from Leicester could happen sooner, rather than later.
