Newcastle United are reportedly looking to offload French winger Allan Saint-Maximin to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli in order to raise funds in their pursuit of Leicester’s Harvey Barnes.

According to talkSPORT, Allan Saint-Maximin’s advisers are in talks with Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli as Newcastle are keen to part ways with the winger.

Talks are said to be at a very early stage however, with the Magpies looking to raise funds in their pursuit of Leicester wide-man Harvey Barnes.

Eddie Howe’s side have long been linked with a move for Barnes, even before the Foxes’ demotion to the Championship, but they are likely to face some stiff competition.

If reports are to be believed, West Ham hold a vested interest in the Englishman too, with Leicester hoping to received upwards of £35million to part ways with 25-year-old.

Newcastle is the favoured destination for Barnes though, but following Sandro Tonali’s move to Tyneside, the Magpies would likely need to sell someone in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations in their hunt for the winger – with Saint-Maximin looking to be the ideal candidate.

Despite Leicester’s dismal season in the Premier League last term, Barnes managed to score 13 league goals, being one of the very few shining stars at the King Power.

Saint-Maximin’s fortunes were the complete opposite in Newcastle’s Champions League-qualifying season, though.

Making 31 appearances in all competitions, the Frenchman scored just once, whilst managing to provide five assists.

A disappointing return for the ex-Nice winger, especially after his promising start at St. James’ Park, so a move away may be suited for all parties in order to reinvigorate his career.
