Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona duo, Ferran Torres and Raphinha, as the Magpies look to strengthen this summer.

Eddie Howe’s side are preparing for a huge summer after finishing fourth in the Premier League, as  European football will return to Tyneside for the first time in over two decades.

Supporters across the country have been stunned by Newcastle’s progress following a Saudi Arabian takeover and the club could be set for a huge window.

Key signings have been key for the Toon since Howe’s appointment, with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier and Daniel Burn playing a huge part in the club’s success.

The Magpies are reportedly keen on signing former Premier League, turned Barcelona stars, Ferran Torres and Raphinha, as the Spanish side are still facing financial difficulties.

Raphinha, formerly of Leeds United, was linked with a move to St James’ Park in the summer of last year, however, the Brazilian opted for a move to Spain – signing for Barcelona.

The 26-year-old scored 10 goals and contributed with 12 assists in his opening La Liga campaign, helping the Catalan side clinch the title for the first time in almost five years.

His teammate, Torres, contributed to 10 goals in 45 matches and failed to live up to expectations – in his first full season at the club following a January move last year.

Despite both players proving beneficial to the Spanish side, Barcelona’s financial struggles could see the duo leave this summer. As the club reportedly need to sell a ‘substantial’ player in the coming weeks.

The Magpies have just completed the signing of Italian international, Sandro Tonali, highlighting their ambition for next season and the Barcelona duo could be next on Eddie Howe’s shortlist.
