US broadcaster NBC have confirmed Arsenal’s recent win over Manchester United was the most viewed Premier League match ever in the States, drawing in nearly two million watchers.
It was certainly a rewarding match to pick for a record-breaking viewership after the Gunners snatched all three points in the dying moments, courtesy of a brace from Eddie Nketiah who made it 3-2 on the night.
Following the game, NBC revealed that a record 1.92 million English-language viewers sat down to watch the top-of-the-table clash, which includes all their various live-streaming portals such as Peacock.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United rank in the nation’s five most popular teams according to Statista, but this latest viewing figure released by NBC shows the rapidly growing popularity of football (or soccer) in the US, while also highlighting the global pull of the Premier League.

Just last month, Kylian Mbappe’s staggering hat-trick and Lionel Messi’s crowning moment in Qatar managed to draw in a record 17.73 million viewers, the most of any World Cup final on American-English language TV, while Spanish language viewers on Telemundo and Peacock made up a huge nine million strong viewership.
The previous Premier League record was for a Manchester derby in 2022 that averaged 1.76 million viewers, although the relatively uncommon occurrence of a live over-the-air broadcast between 11:30am to 1:30pm ET for Arsenal‘s win over United is said to have boosted viewing figures significantly.
Perhaps more importantly however, the change in leadership with Arsenal topping the Premier League, along with a resurgent Manchester United side under new manager Erik Ten Hag, means this season makes for enhanced viewing after years of Manchester City and Liverpool batting it out at the top of the table.
Delving deep into the remaining schedule, it may be a while before this latest record is broken again with Arsenal having played twice against United and Tottenham, while their two fixtures with second-placed Manchester City are slated for Wednesdays which will have an effect on the overall figures.
