The agent of Moises Caicedo has revealed that the Ecuadorian ‘only wanted Chelsea’ this summer despite being heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool.
Moises Caicedo was one of several new faces to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer, joining Chelsea from Brighton for a reported fee of around £115million.
The Ecuador international had been heavily linked with the Blues since last January, and faced stiff competition from Arsenal for his signature following the end of the World Cup, but in the end he remained at the Amex with the Seagulls for the remainder of 2022/23.
Chelsea revisited a move for Caicedo in the summer, but this time faced competition from Liverpool who were desperate for midfield reinforcements, and despite reports claiming that the 21-year-old was close to a move to Anfield, his agent has revealed that he only had eyes on a move to the ‘Bridge.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Sport Italia, Caicedo’s agent Andrea Pellagatti confirmed that Chelsea had been heavily interested since January, and that was the only move that his client wanted.
“The amount paid is no accident.” Pellagatti said.
“It was finalised in the last few hours (of the window), but the boy only wanted Chelsea, who had started to express their interest in a consistent manner since January.”
Since completing his move, Caicedo has made four appearances under Mauricio Pochettino in all competitions, with his best performance coming against Luton at the end of August.
During the recent international window, he was away with the Ecuador national team where he picked up an assist against Uruguay, but picked up a knee injury to go along with it.
After missing out on the goalless draw against Bournemouth last time out, Pochettino has since confirmed in a press conference that the issue shouldn’t keep him out of this weekend’s clash against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
