Michael Smith Players Championship Finals Odds
Despite winning the World Darts Championship at the start of 2023, and currently holding the Number One spot in the world rankings, Michael Smith has not been at his best for the majority of the year.
However, he admitted in a recent interview that since winning the worlds, he’d stopped practising as much and hadn’t been playing as well as he could and vowed to improve and pick up his form.
And the form certainly needs picking up considering he was dumped out of last week’s Grand Slam of Darts. “Bully Boy” didn’t even make it out of his group, despite being on the same points as 1st and 2nd place. He lost out on a spot in the second round due to leg difference, and would have been severely disappointed considering he went into the competition as the bookmakers joint favourite.
He was also shocked in the Players Championship Finals in 2022 when he suffered a first round exit at the hands of Ritchie Edhouse, but he still went on to win the World Championship just a few weeks later.
Given the quality that Smith does possess, 18/1 with BetMGM is a very generous price and he gets his campaign underway with a tie against Richard Veenstra.
