Up to now in his professional career, ‘Mick’ has barely put a foot wrong. In his 21 professional fights, the Irishman has had his hand raised all but three times.

Of those 21 contests, the fighting pride of Belfast has finished nine of his opponents inside the scheduled distance. Since making his professional debut back in March 2017 on St Patrick’s Day at Madison Square Garden, New York, the 32-year-old won five of his first six fights by stoppage. Since then in his next 14 fights, he has added another four stoppage victories.

Some big names in boxing circles such as TJ Doheny, Karim Guerfi, Jason Cunningham, Miguel Marriaga, Ionut Baluta and Diego Alberto Ruiz are just some of the names Conlan has beaten up to now in his professional boxing career.

Conlan isn’t renowned as being a huge puncher, but he has shown in recent fights that he is punching harder than ever and is more spiteful in the ring now.

Conlan has had a fantastic career so far. He has gradually stepped up levels each and every time he has fought. The only defeats on his record are of the course the 12th round KO defeat to Leigh Wood back in March 2022, Luis Alberto Lopez on May 27th or a world title and last time out in a shock defeat to Jordan Gill.

Since his first defeat to Wood, Conlan bounced back with two impressive wins in 2022. He fought Miguel Marriaga in Belfast in August, winning a wide unanimous decision over 10 rounds. ‘Mick’ also showed some of his power by dropping Marriaga on three occasions.

Two fights ago, Conlan put in the most emphatic performance of his career. The Irishman sent the SSE Arena into raptures after knocking Guerfi out in the very first round last December.

Conlan’s second career defeat came last time out as he was stopped in the fifth round of his second world title attempt against Luis Alberto Lopez. The Mexican world champion silenced the loud Belfast crowd, knocking out their hero in five rounds. This takes us up to now in the career of Michael Conlan.

The came Conlan’s defeat to Jordan ‘The Thrill’ Gill. This was Conlan’s third defeat, and third knockout defeat too. Gill put in a career-best performance, silencing the noisy Belfast crowd on December 2, potentially sending ‘Mick’ into early retirement.

Having lost to Jordan Gill last time out, despite being an overriding favourite with the best boxing betting sites, that could be the end for Michael Conlan. He may well retire from the sport of boxing, which has been at the centre of his life since
