Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards has likened Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka to the Gunners’ invincibles legend Robert Pires for his dribbling skills and shooting abilities.

Bukayo Saka has received comparisons to Arsenal legend Robert Pires by former Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

The player-turned-pundit hailed the Englishman’s efforts for the Gunners this season, as well as his dribbling skills and shooting ability.

Pires was part of the iconic invicibles side that won the Premier League title back in 2003/04. Incidentally, this is the last time the Gunners claimed the English top-flight trophy.

With Arsenal on the push for their first league title since that iconic invicibles season, it may be why Richards has drawn Saka comparisons to Pires.

The Frenchman scored 14 goals and assisted nine times in 2003/04, a similar output to Saka this season – who has 13 goals and 10 assists in the league.

Discussing some of the Premier League’s greatest French stars with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, Pires’ name naturally came up.

“Now we’re cooking! He reminds me of (Bukayo) Saka,” said Richards.

“The way he… On the other side, the way you think he’s not going to beat you and then he just drops the shoulder and then bends it into the far corner.”

Saka has easily been one of Arsenal’s star players this season.

There’s plenty to choose from, of course, but the 21-year-old’s output in front of goal has been nothing short of sensational.

The England international has barely missed a game for the Gunners this season, as they remain eight points clear at the top of the table.

Saka has played in 38 matches in all competitions under Mikel Arteta this term, averaging 77 minutes a game.
