Suspended Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood will not play for the club this season due to an ongoing internal investigation, according to a report.
Despite being cleared of attempted rape, assault and coercive control by the Crown Prosecution Service, Mason Greenwood will not suit up for Erik ten Hag in the current campaign.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United’s investigation is not expected to finish any time soon – leaving Greenwood’s future with the 20-time Premier League champions up in the air.
The 21-year-old was arrested in January 2022 over the alleged rape and assault of a young woman who posted graphic images and videos to her Instagram account, as well as making threats to kill.
Later that year in October, Greenwood was arrested for a second time over an alleged breach of bail conditions and has seen sponsorship deals with companies such as Nike and Electronic Arts terminated.

Erik ten Hag has reportedly been in contact with Mason Greenwood
According to The Sun, the Dutchman contacted Greenwood just days after the charges were dropped which was described as a ‘big step’ and one that was ‘really appreciated’ by the player.
Ten Hag reportedly told Greenwood that he was ‘pleased’ the charges had been dropped and enquired about his physical and mental health.
A report from The Athletic detailed the Manchester United women’s team’s desire for Greenwood to be released from his contract and not appear for the Red Devils again.
If there is no way back in Manchester or English football for Greenwood, a move to China has been suggested but he would have to take a pay cut from his £75,000 weekly salary at United.
