Erik ten Hag will be without a number of key players for Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Brighton at Wembley this weekend.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday in a 3-0 defeat to six-time competition winners Sevilla on aggregate, ending United’s hopes of a treble this season.

After winning the EFL Cup earlier this year, many anticipated Manchester United would go on to win at least one more trophy as they still remained in the Europa League and FA Cup.

However, with a tough draw and a host of missing talent for Sunday’s showdown at Wembley it will prove to be a difficult task for the 12-time FA Cup winners.

First-choice centre back pairing Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane will both miss the occasion through injury and Harry Maguire is suspended, leaving the door open for Victor Lindelof to start alongside a defender of ten Hag’s choice.

Luke Shaw has played at centre back on occasion this season and looks the likely candidate, with Tyrell Malacia or Diogo Dalot expected to slot in at left-back and Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right.

The first-choice midfield of Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro is fully fit and available which will likely relegate Marcel Sabitzer to the bench despite a number of encouraging performances.

Anthony Martial limped off in Thursday’s defeat with an apparent ankle injury and his status for the trip is unconfirmed, but with his history we can safely assume the Frenchman will not be involved.

This could prompt a start for Wout Weghorst alongside Antony in the forward line, but Jadon Sancho’s recent showings mean he will assumedly miss out.

Marcus Rashford made his return from a short absence in the second half to no avail against Sevilla, but the 25-year-old will provide a much needed spark in the final third for United.

Predicted XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Shaw, Dalot; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Rashford, Antony, Weghorst
