Manchester United are ready to make a move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat following the sale of Fred or Donny van de Beek, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano reports that United are lining up a move for Amrabat and he has been included on their defensive midfielder list, but the potential transfer is dependant on the sale of either Fred or Donny van de Beek.

Despite some lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, the Moroccan international has verbally agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and is sold on a move to Old Trafford to play under Erik ten Hag.

United’s midfield is undergoing a significant restructure this summer following the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea, with the additional departure of Scott McTominay also on the cards amid interest from West Ham.

It’s unclear how ten Hag would fit all four of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Mount and Amrabat into a single starting XI but the most likely scenario is the current Fiorentina man acting as a backup holding midfielder.
