Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek has reportedly been offered to Jose Mourinho’s Roma as Erik ten Hag continues to trim the squad to raise funds for incomings this summer.

The Dutch midfielder has never lived up to expectations at Old Trafford since signing for £35m from Ajax back in 2020.

Van de Beek has had it tough in England and has suffered with numerous injuries along the way. He was even loaned out to Everton in the 2021/22 season in a bid to gain some confidence, but he also failed to make an impact there.

Despite a reunion with his former Ajax boss Ten Hag this season, he had little game time before sustaining a serious knee injury ruling him out until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his contract, however United seem to want him gone this summer. Mourinho’s Roma have been offered the chance to sign Van de Beek, which could revitalise his career.

He is said not to be a priority for the Giallorossi, but could move to Italy on loan if he doesn’t find another club.

The Dutchman could become a third ex-Red Devil to join Mourinho at Roma, with Chris Smalling and Nemanja Matic both already there.

Van de Beek may not be the only midfielder to leave United this summer with Fred and Scott McTominay both potentially leaving.
