Manchester United have been in direct contact with Inter Milan over their goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is valued at £50m by the Italian giants.

The Red Devils appear to be closing in on the signing of Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the clubs making contact on Thursday.

Inter have set a £50m price tag on their 27-year-old goalkeeper, which could be too expensive for United who reportedly have a budget of just £100m for this window.

Last season United won the Carabao Cup and finished runners up in the FA Cup to rivals Manchester City in a fairly impressive debut season for Erik Ten Hag.

But the United manager unsurprisingly wants more from his side next season and he is rebuilding his squad ahead of a return to the Champions League next year.

David De Gea looks like he could be one of those to be replaced this summer, with the Spanish keeper coming under heavy criticism throughout last season.

The fee of £50m for Onana would make him the third most expensive goalkeeper of all time, after Kepa Arrizabalaga and Alisson who also both play in the Premier League.

Despite United’s interest in Onana, Inter remain reluctant to sell their star goalkeeper this summer and will try to hold on to him for as long as they can.

Ten Hag could convince Onana to come to England however, having already managed the Cameroonian at Ajax before he moved to Manchester last season.
