Although early-summer Manchester United transfer news has been dominated by their pursuit of Mason Mount, the club have also reportedly drawn up an 11-man shortlist of squad members who are deemed surplus to requirements.

Manchester United’s makeup by the end of the window is being shaped firmly in the mould of Erik Ten Hag’s vision, with the club actively pursuing priority targets Mason Mount and Andre Onana.
With the Dutchman enjoying a more than respectable debut season in English football, the Red Devils are prepared to back him in the window in order to mount a sustained challenge against neighbours Manchester City next term.
Although the club have gone some way to investing in a squad overhaul – notably with the arrivals of Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony last summer – it appears a mass exodus may be on the cards this summer, in order to free up room for further incomings.
Both men between the sticks, loyal servant David De Gea and Dean Henderson, could head for the exit this summer with the former turning down an extension to his contract, while the latter is keen on making his loan to Nottingham Forest a permanent deal.
Inter Milan’s Andre Onana, as mentioned, is viewed as Ten Hag’s natural target given his world-leading ability on the ball and distribution stats.
Elsewhere, a trio of bit-part defenders are deemed as nailed-on departures. Returning loanees Alex Telles and Eric Bailly are widely expected to make way, while Brandon Williams made just one appearance as a substitute last season and is not expected to continue beyond the summer.
The hierarchy will also listen to offers for club captain Harry Maguire, who has been pushed out of starting contention following the overwhelming success of Lisandro Martinez.
Additions to the midfield, a new goalkeeper and a recognised, prolific striker are all on Ten Hag’s shortlist this summer, and the club hope to raise in excess of £100m by offloading some of the dead weight.
Other notable names that are expected to exit Old Trafford include Donny Van De Beek, Anthony Martial, Fred, Anthony Elanga, and even Jadon Sancho, with the club willing to listen to offers for their £70m marquee investment from two years ago.
