Manchester United transfer news has been dominated by their apparent search for a new marksman in recent weeks, and fresh reports this morning suggest two new additions have been made to their summer shortlist.

Although Harry Kane has long been perceived as the club’s number one target, there is no guarantee the England forward will make the switch from North London, particularly given the stubbornness Daniel Levy has shown in past negotiations.

What remains clear, however, is Manchester United’s need for a recognised goalscorer this summer – of course, Marcus Rashford has taken that mantle upon himself this season, but the next step in Erik Ten Hag’s revolution is to challenge for the Premier League title, and that requires a more prolific scorer than current target man Wout Weghorst.

According to several reports from around Europe this morning, the club’s hierarchy are assessing their options ahead of the summer window and look ready to pounce when the opportunity arises.

Although it remains unclear who they will eventually move for, the Mirror have revealed former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham is of interest after the Red Devils sent scouts to Italy last weekend.

Now plying his trade for Jose Mourinho’s Roma, the 25-year-old hasn’t quite reached his impressive output from last season where he became the highest single-season scoring Englishman in the Serie A with 17 goals.

Nevertheless, his presence in the box, combined with a knack for bringing other players into the game, may make him an intriguing option at a cut price.

Looking further afield, Sky Germany have also reiterated United’s interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kolo Muani. The supremely talented France forward is one of Europe’s most sought after forwards having clocked in with 20 goals and 14 assists this season.

Bayern Munich, who are also scrambling to sign a striker this summer, are said to have concrete interest in the 24-year-old, but United are supposed long-term admirers and would be willing to pay upwards of £80m for his signature.
