Manchester City will reportedly target Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma next to replace Riyad Mahrez, who joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli at the end of last month.

Pep Guardiola Wants To Bring Kaoru Mitoma To City

City are on the hunt for a new winger after losing Mahrez in July, who signed for Al-Ahli in a £30million deal.

Brighton’s Mitoma impressed in the Premier League last season, and is wanted by the Cityzens. Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Rennes winger Jeremy Doku are also on the shortlist.

Japanese international Mitoma scored seven times in 24 appearances for the Seagulls, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to keep hold of him.

The 26-year-old signed for Brighton in 2021, before spending a season on loan in Belgium with Union St Gilloise. He was a regular for Japan at the World Cup in Qatar, and helped De Zerbi’s side qualify for Europe for the first time in the club’s history.

Brighton will play in the Europa League this season, after finishing sixth with 62 points last campaign.

The Seagulls have already sold Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool this summer for £35million, with Chelsea pushing hard to sign Moises Caicedo too – with a fourth offer of £90million rejected last week.

Brighton will unlikely let both Caicedo and Mitoma leave this summer, so it looks like it could be one or the other to leave the Amex before the window closes.
