Nathan Ake scored the only goal as Pep Guardiola got one over former colleague Mikel Arteta in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday.
The hosts enjoyed a dominant performance despite winning only 1-0, managing 54% possession as Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan dominated the midfield battle against Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey.
City have now won the last six meetings against Arsenal but sit five points behind the Gunners in the Premier League table and are due to play twice before the end of the season.

According to odds from BetUK, Manchester City are 13/2 to win both the Premier League and FA Cup in 2023 despite trailing Arsenal in the league by five points, who have a game in hand on the defending champions.
City will find out their opponents for the FA Cup fifth round on Monday, January 30 which will commence during the One Show on BBC 1 from 7pm for those in the UK.
Guardiola’s side have been knocked out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage for the last three consecutive seasons, losing 2-0 to Arsenal in 2020, 1-0 to Chelsea in 2021 and 3-2 to Liverpool in 2022.
The Premier League race remains wide open with half of the season still to play, but the Manchester side will need to win both meetings against Arsenal to get in front.
