Manchester City advance to the FA Cup fifth round after defeating Arsenal 1-0 at the Etihad, thanks to Nathan Ake’s second half strike.

  • Julian Alvarez rattles the post from distance
  • Nathan Ake accurately curls past Matt Turner for the opener
  • City move to 7/4 to win the FA Cup

John Stones was forced off through injury on the stroke of half-time, being replaced by Aymeric Laporte.

Pep Guardiola admitted that Stones wasn’t ready to play, at full-time.

“Today he was not ready, I saw it from the first minutes. I don’t know if he was tired, but when you are like this you get injured.”

Second half substitute Julian Alvarez powerfully struck the Arsenal post from distance, as Jack Grealish collected the ball as it rebounded off the post.

Grealish’s clever lay off found the feet of Nathan Ake, who’s curled right-footed effort snuck inside the far post to open the scoring.

City held on to secure the victory, and will now advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Guardiola’s side extend their unbeaten record at home against Arsenal to seven straight victories.

Mikel Arteta will have a chance for revenge in a few weeks time, though. The Gunners take on City in league action at the Emirates on February 15, in what might be the biggest game of the season.

FA Cup Winner Predictions
