Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has exclusively revealed that Manchester City have entered the race for Celta Vigo’s Spanish talent Gabri Veiga after withdrawing their interest in Declan Rice.
Manchester City have now turned their attention to signing Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga after pulling out of the race to sign Declan Rice.
City saw a bid for Rice rejected by West Ham, with the England international now looking close to joining Premier League rivals Arsenal.
However, this hasn’t deterred City’s activity in the transfer market. Football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Pep Guardiola’s side are considering a move for highly-rated Veiga.
The Citizens won’t sign Veiga without competition however, with both Liverpool and Chelsea reportedly holding an interest in the 21-year-old.
Romano exclusively revealed the news on his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.
“Manchester City have entered the race for Spanish talent Gabri Veiga after pulling out of Declan Rice deal. He’s one of the options now being considered at the club.” he said.
“Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested but City also informed now.
“Release clause: €40m.”

Last season was Veiga’s breakout year in terms of appearances, as he featured in 36 of Celta’s 38 La Liga matches.
He played a major role in his boyhood club’s top flight survival after they finished just three points clear of relegation.
On the final day of the campaign, Veiga scored twice as Celta Vigo defeated Barcelona at home, ensuring the retainment of their La Liga status.
The final day brace saw him take his goal tally to 11, coupled with four assists in an impressive return in front of goal for a central midfielder.
With a Premier League move looking likeliest, whoever manages to secure Veiga’s signature looks to have a real star on their hands.
