Manchester City‘s odds to win the Champions League have been lengthened to 2/1 after their 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig in the first-leg of their last-16 tie.
City got off to a strong start dominating the majority of possession, creating plenty of chances. They were rewarded in the 27th minute as Riyad Mahrez was played in behind the Leipzig defence and opened the scoring with a nice finish for his third Champions League goal of the campaign.

It was a largely uneventful 20 minutes for the remainder of the first-half, as the hosts struggled to create anything – as Manchester City continued to dominate possession.
Leipzig made a change at the break, as Benjamin Henrichs replaced Lukas Klostermann at right-back.
Henrichs made an instant impact down the right-hand side. The defender had Leipzig’s best opportunity of the game, breaking into the City box – but dragging his effort wide of the mark. A chance, you have to say, he should’ve done better with.

Erling Haaland had the opportunity to double City’s advantage, but dragged his shot wide of the post, summing up his quiet evening in Germany.
The hosts continued to improve in the second-half and drew level on the 70 minute mark. A corner routine saw Marcel Halstenberg whip the ball into the danger area, and Croatian centre-back Josko Gvardiol was there to head home – leaving Ederson no chance.

Can Manchester City Win Their First Ever Champions League Trophy?
One trophy has eluded Pep Guardiola during his time at Manchester City – the UEFA Champions League. Despite not being able to secure victory away in Leipzig this evening, they still remaing the bookies’ favourites to win the competition.
Guardiola’s side were eliminated in the semi-final by eventual winners Real Madrid last season, and lost in the final to Chelsea the year before. Could 2022/23 finally be their year in Europe?
