Manchester City made it two wins out of two in their Champions League defence by beating RB Leipzig 3-1. The Manchester City Champions League winner odds are now 2/1.

Pep Guardiola’s side started the game strongly as would be expected from the holders of the Champions League. They kept the ball and created chances against RB Leipzig.

Despite all their possession of the ball, the hosts scored to level the game. Loïs Openda levelled the scoring the Bundesliga side. Openda hit the back of the net after a quick counter-attack by Leipzig.

Julian Alvarez came off the bench to help City take the lead, continuing his impressive start to the season.

Before the game was over, Jeremy Doku added a third to seal the result. The 3-1 win means City have six out of six points to start the tournament.

Will Manchester City Win Back-to-Back Champions Leagues?

It takes a lot out of a team to win one Champions League, winning the tournament again next season can be a struggle for teams. This is something Guardiola is well aware of given his history as a manager.

For City, they waited a long time to win the tournament and won’t want their first defence of the title to be a failure. They’ve improved on their squad from last season, so they’ll be confident they can go all the way again.
