The Luton vs Tottenham result on Saturday afternoon surely has Spurs fans dreaming of a possible title charge. Ange Postecoglou‘s side kept their unbeaten start to the new Premier League season in tact with a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Hatters.

Luton Vs Tottenham Result: Micky van de Ven Scores Winner For Spurs

The Hatters headed into the game still searching for their first Premier League win at Kenilworth Road, but they will have to wait a little longer for that after being turned over by 10-man Spurs.

Postecoglou’s side started the game off very well and created plenty of chances, but were also wasteful in front of goal.

Richarlison could have put Spurs 1-0 up inside the first three minutes. The Brazilian met a Dejan Kulusevski cross at the back post, but could not convert a chance that looked harder to miss than score.

Luton were poor in the first half and struggled to keep up with the tempo from the visitors, but Thomas Kaminski made a number of excellent saves to keep Spurs at bay.

The Hatters thought they had taken the lead on the 40th minute after Tom Lockyer headed the ball home. However, there was a foul from Elijah Adebayo in the build up and the goal was ruled out immediately.

Then just seconds before half-time, Yves Bissouma was sent off after a second yellow. Tottenham’s Malian midfielder drove towards the penalty area and went down under pressure, and was booked for simulation. This left Spurs down to ten-men going into the second half.

However, despite being a man down, the visitors found a breakthrough just seven minutes after the break. James Maddison produced some wonderful footwork down the right hand side before cutting the ball back, where it was met by Micky van de Ven.

The Dutch defender scored his first goal for the club and it proved to be the difference in the end after a cagey affair at Kenilworth Road.

How does the Luton vs Tottenham result leave the standings? A huge three points for Spurs sends them top of the table, meanwhile the Hatters remain just above the relegation zone.
