Louis Saha Criticises Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United Stint, Labels It One of the Club’s ‘Biggest Transfer Failures’

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has expressed strong criticism of Jadon Sancho’s time at the club, describing it as one of United’s ‘biggest transfer failures.’

The England winger is on the verge of sealing a loan move back to Borussia Dortmund, just two-and-a-half years after his high-profile £73 million transfer from the Bundesliga side.

Sancho’s tenure at Old Trafford has been hugely disappointing, with the player reportedly not training or playing with the first team since a social media outburst directed at manager Erik ten Hag following his omission from the squad against Arsenal in September.

What Has Louis Saha Said About Sancho?

In an interview with Paddy Power, Saha voiced his concerns, stating, “Jadon Sancho is one of Manchester United’s biggest transfer failures.

“You can’t have that type of quality sidelined because of his mindset. We know that he is good enough, which is why it doesn’t sit right. You can’t be putting yourself in that situation and thinking that you are bigger than the manager.

“Whatever happens, I don’t back Sancho, which is hard for me as a supporter of United. It’s just horrendous.”

Sancho’s Disappointing Numbers At Manchester United

Sancho’s arrival at United was anticipated to be a catalyst for a title charge under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, he started just four Premier League matches before Solskjaer’s dismissal, and the unexpected return of Cristiano Ronaldo disrupted his place in the team.

During his time at United, Sancho has just 12 goals and six assists in two-and-a-half years. This is in stark contrast to his prolific spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he contributed to 114 goals between 2017 and 2021.

Having not been included in an England squad since 2021, Sancho will be hoping for a resurgence in form ahead of Euro 2024 in the summer.

Sancho’s imminent loan move to Dortmund is expected to be finalised this week, and while the Bundesliga side resumes their league season against Darmstadt this weekend, it’s anticipated that the 23-year-old will require some weeks of training to regain peak fitness before making his first appearance.
