Liverpool vs Leicester Preview

Jurgen Klopp’s in-form Liverpool side host Championship leaders Leicester City on Tuesday with both sides hopeful of making it safely through to the fourth round.

The Reds recorded their sixth win in a row when they beat West Ham 3-1 on Sunday, meanwhile Leicester have won eight out of their last nine games in all competitions, beating Bristol City 1-0 in their most recent outing.

This is the first Carabao Cup game that Klopp’s side will play this season with the Foxes already playing two, winning 2-0 on both occasions.

Liverpool are in top form, and have won all of their last three games 3-1 and in the meantime extended their unbeaten run to 18 games in all competitions.

The Reds did the double over Leicester last season before they were relegated, and have also got the better of them the last two times they have met in this competition.

Klopp almost has a near fully-fit squad and only has two players on the sidelines through injury. Trent Alexander-Arnold (hamstring) and Thiago (hip) are unavailable once again. Despite the options Liverpool have, there will likely be plenty of changes as the side prepare for their third game in six days.

The Manchester City loanee is expected to undergo a scan on Monday and the time frame of the injury is unknown at this stage.

Conor Coady has also returned to training and was on the bench at the weekend, but other than those mentioned Maresca has plenty of options available.
