Liverpool have completed the signing of Japanese international midfielder Wataru Endo from Bundesliga side Stuttgart on a four-year deal for a reported £16.2million.

Jurgen Klopp’s wish of signing a new midfielder has finally been granted, as Liverpool have now confirmed the signing of Wataru Endo from Bundesliga club Stuttgart.

Endo joins the Reds on a four-year deal for a reported fee of £16.2million.

Liverpool initially held talks with Brighton and Southampton over the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, however both snubbed the approaches in favour of a move to Chelsea.

Endo, who will wear number three at Anfield, revealed his excitement at completing his ‘dream’ move to the Premier League.

“I’m very happy right now and I’m so excited to join a big club in Liverpool.” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It feels amazing and this is my dream. It’s always [been] a dream to play [in the] Premier League and with one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s a dream come true for me.”

At 30-years-old, Endo has a wealth of experience at senior level, and has 50 caps for his nation – with four of them coming at the most recent World Cup in Qatar.

“It’s going to be the first time for me that I play at Anfield. I can’t wait to play at Anfield in front of Liverpool fans.” he continued.

“I play as a No.6 and I’m like a bit more [of a] defensive player. I think I can help this club defensively and I will have good organisation in the middle. I think that’s my job.

“I am very excited to join this club and I am looking forward to seeing you at Anfield!”
