After Liverpool’s huge win over Newcastle United in the Premier League, many fans on Twitter were unimpressed with Martin Tyler’s commentary for Darwin Nunez’s opening goal.

Things may be looking up for the Reds after back-to-back wins for the first time since December, and Nunez got them off to the perfect start with an early goal.

It seems that Tyler was convinced that the goal wasn’t going to stand, and one account labelled him as ‘an embarrassment’

This goal was the Uruguayan’s first in the Premier League since he scored a brace against Southampton in the last game before the World Cup in November.

Some fans have claimed that the legendary commentator had hoped that the goal would be ruled out, and one Twitter user said ‘his lack of professionalism is beyond a joke’

Liverpool fans were even complaining about the commentary of Cody Gakpo’s goal, which put the visitors 2-0 up at St James’ Park. It was a great goal by the Reds, with some fantastic build-up play. It was Gakpo’s second goal for Liverpool, and it’s now two goals in two games for the Dutch attacker.

There’s been calls for him Tyler to retire, with one Liverpool account saying that he was ‘gutted’ to see the Nunez goal go in.
