Liverpool are set to step up their pursuit of Dominik Szoboszlai this summer, after Newcastle reportedly pulled out of the race to sign the Leipzig star.

Szoboszlai has a €70m release clause to his name that is set to expire in just a few hours, so Liverpool are planning a move before the weekend to ensure they get the best deal possible.

Newcastle are another Premier League side who have been heavily linked with Szoboszlai in this window, but David Ornstein has reported that the Magpies have pulled out of the race today.

With Newcastle out of the race, Liverpool remain confident they can sign Szoboszlai this summer, as personal terms have already been agreed between player and club.

The Reds have already dealt with Leipzig this summer, as their starlet Fabio Carvalho will complete a loan move to the German side in the coming hours – with just a club announcement needed to confirm the deal.

Szoboszlai has caught the eye of clubs around the world with his performances in the Bundesliga over the past few seasons, as well as on the international stage for Hungary who he has captained from such a young age.

The 22-year-old is a versatile player who can play in both midfield and attack, which makes him a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s dynamic Liverpool side.

Szoboszlai will likely have to compete for a place in the starting lineup with World Cup winner and new Liverpool signing Alexis Mac Allister, who signed for the Reds from Brighton for just £35m earlier in the window.
