Liverpool are reportedly ready to make a move for Chelsea central defender Levi Colwill following the culmination of the U21 European Championship.

Talented young Englishman Levi Colwill looks set to have several options on the table ahead of the new Premier League campaign, with Liverpool now reportedly ready to make a move for the Chelsea defender.

Brighton are also interested in permanently signing Colwill, having had the centre-back spend last season on loan at the Amex.

The Seagulls reportedly lodged a £40million bid for the 20-year-old earlier in the transfer window, but for Chelsea to reject their approach, insisting that he is not for sale.

But now, according to 90min, Liverpool are confident that they can lure Colwill away from the English capital towards Merseyside.

Their report claims that Colwill is far from convinced that his long-term future is at Stamford Bridge despite their persistence in trying to get him to pen a new deal with the club.

Colwill was a standout performer at the recent Under-21 European Championship where England went on to lift the trophy, having been called up to Gareth Southgate’s senior side earlier in the international window.

Liverpool have already been fairly active in the transfer market over the summer, mainly targeting midfield reinforcements.

They have secured the signings of both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, whilst Fabio Carvalho has departed to RB Leipzig on loan.

Jordan Henderson may be another that exits Anfield, with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq reportedly looking to secure the England international’s signing on a two-year deal.
