Liverpool have reportedly re-entered the race to sign Fulham superstar Joao Palhinha, after a £70m price tag was set on the highly rated midfielder’s head.

Fulham Set £70m Asking Price On Joao Palhinha

Joao Palhinha was all set for a move to Bayern Munich in summer, but the deal fell through on transfer deadline day after Fulham stopped negotiations with fears they wouldn’t be able to secure a replacement before the end of the window.

Although Palhinha’s deal with Bayern fell through after taking pictures in the Bundesliga champions’ kit, it seems the highly rated midfielder is still looking for a way out of Craven Cottage as soon as January.

Liverpool have emerged as one of the favourites to sign the Portuguese midfielder in January, with £70m believed to be enough to secure the Fulham star.

The Reds are in desperate need of depth in the defensive midfield position, after Jurgen Klopp failed to secure any of his priority targets during a difficult summer transfer window.

After missing out on Moises Caicedo to Chelsea, Liverpool made a move for Japanese star Waturo Endo, who has played just five matches for the Reds so far this season.

Palhinha has yet again been a reliable member of the Fulham squad this season, with the 28-year-old starting four out of five of Fulham’s games since returning from injury at the beginning of the season.

The Portuguese star’s ability to play both a deeper role as well as a more central position has made him the ideal target for Liverpool this season, with Jurgen Klopp’s side already struggling with injuries just eight games into the Premier League season.

Bayern could also look to sign Palhinha again in January, but at the moment it seems that Liverpool are the favourites to secure the Fulham midfielder’s signature.
