Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the game as Liverpool beat Brentford 1-0 at Anfield on Saturday evening to go within a point of the Champions League places.

Liverpool are undefeated in their last eight Premier League games including six wins on the bounce against Leeds, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Spurs, Fulham and now Brentford.

Salah bagged his 19th goal of the season to go within one of Ivan Toney in third place for the Golden Boot, who trails Harry Kane by six and Erling Haaland by 15.

The Egyptian scored his 100th Anfield goal and became the first player in Liverpool’s 131-year history to score in nine consecutive home games.

The Reds are now one point adrift Manchester United in fourth, who have two games in hand to play and five in total to close the season.

A spot in the top six looks almost guaranteed for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who have largely unperformed for the majority of the campaign and failed to build on last season’s cup double.

According to Premier League betting sites, Liverpool have an implied probability of 23% to finish in the top four this season and secure a spot in the Champions League.

The run-in looks fairly simple for the Merseyside outfit however, who will face Leicester City, Aston Villa and Southampton to close out the campaign.

Ahead of an important transfer window for the club with the addition of Jude Bellingham looking unlikely, Liverpool have work to do to finish the season in style.
