As of today, Liam Smith boasts an impressive boxing record of 33-4-1. Of these 33 wins, Smith has secured 20 stoppage victories, with his last four wins all coming inside the scheduled distance. That of course includes his emphatic four round demolition job of Chris Eubank Jr in their first fight.

Liam Smith made his professional debut back in October 2008, winning his first five fights before a shock draw in his sixth bout against Terry Carruthers. Callum Smith’s brother bounced back with seven straight wins, before becoming Commonwealth champion in just his 14th fight.

Just two fights later, ‘Beefy’ became British Super-Welterweight Champion after beating Erick Ochieng via unanimous decision. Smith then successfully defended his Lonsdale belt on two occasions, with stoppage victories over Mark Thompson and Jason Welbourn respectively. Smith then fought three more times before earning his shot at world honours.

On the 10th October 2015, Liam Smith became world champion at the first time of asking, defeating Apollo Thompson via knockout in the seventh round. Now he was world champion, Smith was a sought after fighter.

‘Beefy’ successfully defended his WBO World Super-Welterweight Title twice against Jimmy Kelly and Predrag Radosevic, before having the biggest fight of his life against the great Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. Smith put up a great fight against ‘Canelo’, but ultimately lost via knockout in Round 9.

The Liverpool based 154-pound fighter then bounced back with three victories, including two wins over Welshman Liam Williams. Smith then challenged Jaime Munguia to become a two-time world champion, but lost via wide unanimous decision in the end.

After that, Smith again bounced back in typical Smith brother fashion, with three straight wins over Sam Eggington, Mario Alberto Lozano and Roberto Garcia. In May 2021, Liam Smith was then robbed in a fight in Russia against Magomed Kurbanov, before bouncing back with a huge win in the all-Liverpool clash with Anthony Fowler.

Smith knocked Fowler out in eight rounds in the scouse grudge match, before then knocking out Jessie Vargas at Madison Square Garden in New York, and Hassan Mwakinyo in his hometown of Liverpool. Then came the two Chris Eubank Jr fights.

‘Beefy’ won the first fight via emphatic KO in Round 4, handing Eubank the third defeat of his career and becoming the first man to ever have stopped ‘Next Gen’ in the process. However, the result was reversed in the rematch as Chris Eubank Jr put in a masterful display, knocking Smith out in Round 10.
