Conor Benn has had a fantastic boxing career so far. Almost punch perfect. He has gradually stepped up levels each and every time he has fought. It comes as no surprise that he is one of Britain’s best fighters, having shown serious promise from the early days as a Matchroom fighter signed to famous promoter Eddie Hearn.

After turning professional in 2016, Benn won his first 10 fights with relative ease, getting to 10-0 with eight knockouts. In his 11th fight, Benn had to overcome huge adversity, getting off the canvas on multiple occasions to beat Cedrick Peynaud on points.

Benn then had one more fight before winning his first belt as a professional in a rematch with Peynaud. This time Benn won far more convincingly on points, putting the Peynaud saga to bed once and for all. Benn notched up another few victories, getting to 16-0 with 11 KO’s before his first real acid test.

In just his 17th fight, Benn fought former world title challenger Sebastian Formella in a 147-pound contest. Benn put in a perfect boxing display, outpointing Formella and boxing incredibly well. This was a big tick for Benn, who proved some doubters wrong and claimed the first big name on his record.

There was no going back after that, as Benn then beat Samuel Vargas, Adrian Granados, Chris Algieri and Chris van Heerden in his next four fights. Granados was the only one of these fighters to go the distance with Benn, with ‘The Destroyer’ stopping the other three in emphatic fashion.

Then came the toughest period of Conor Benn’s boxing career. Benn was scheduled to fight Chris Eubank Jr in October 2022, reigniting the Benn vs Eubank rivalry that is one of the fiercest in British boxing history. This time it was the two sons of Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank who were scheduled to fight, but the bout didn’t happen.

Just days before the scheduled fight, Benn tested positive for clomifene – a banned performance enhancing drug. The fight with Eubank, which the best UK betting sites found impossible to split, was set to be one of the biggest of the year, but instead never took place. Since that failed test, Benn has been trying desperately hard to clear his name.

‘The Destroyer’ is adamant he is a clean athlete and never knowingly took any banned substances to enhance his performance. He isn’t banned or suspended, but instead gave up his British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) license due to how they handed the case.

However, after a long and frustrating period away from the ring, Benn returned to action in September 2023, outpoint Rodolfo Orozco to get his career back on track. He then beat Peter Dobson with ease last time out to move to 23-0, with some potentially massive fights now on the horizon for ‘The Destroyer’.

That takes us up to now in the boxing career of Conor Benn. Benn seems destined for the very pinnacle of the sport, but only time will tell whether he reaches the highest level or not.
