Chelsea are reportedly set to lose young defender, Levi Colwill, who is ready to tell Mauricio Pochettino about his desire to leave the club.

The former Brighton loanee is rumoured to be preparing his departing words to manager, Mauricio Pochettino, despite the Argentinian manager’s recent words over Colwill’s future.

Pochettino said: “We don’t need to make a statement about nothing. He’s our player and he’s going to continue with us. I am happy with him, his performance was good today, better than what I expected because it’s only the first game with us after the season in Brighton,”

“But I think he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England. He is going to be part of our team.”

Despite these reassuring words, recent reports suggest that his future at Stamford Bridge is far from certain and a move to Liverpool could be on the cards this summer.

The red side of Merseyside have endured a difficult season, as Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to qualify for the Champions League and will play Europa League football for the first time in almost six-years.

This has impacted their negotiations in the summer window, as Jude Bellingham looked set to join the Reds, however after failing to qualify for Europe, Klopp’s side were pipped by Real Madrid.

Midfield reinforcements were still the priority for Liverpool this summer, with the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai moving to Anfield.

Liverpool are not alone in their pursuit of Levi Colwill, as Brighton are keen to make the Englishman’s deal permanent after a successful loan spell last season.

The 20-year-old made 22 appearances under Roberto de Zerbi, helping the Seagulls achieve Europa League status and the defender capped the season off with a Euros U21 trophy.
