Leicester City tore the Southampton defence to pieces as they won 4-1 in the Championship. Leicester City Championship winners odds are now 5/2.

The Foxes started the game off quick. After just 21 seconds they had the lead through Jamie Vardy after Southampton attempted to play the ball out.

Moments later Leicester City looked like they were going to double their lead but couldn’t make the chance count.

Just before the 20-minute mark, more questionable play from Southampton led to another chance. Kasey McAteer this time slotted the ball home.

Southampton did pull a goal back to make it into a game in the first half. A Leicester City defensive mistake this time led to Sam Edozie slotting home the ball.

Just before the half-time whistle Leicester restored their two goal cushion when Wilfred Ndidi smashed the ball home after sitting one defender down. The goal was a killer for Russell Martin’s side as they thought they were back in the game.

Not finished there, Leicester added a fourth and killed them game off. Stephy Mavididi scored to make it 4-1, to cap off an excellent performance from their new number 10.

Despite their errors early on, Southampton continued to play passing football. This provided Leicester with more chances, but they couldn’t add to their tally.

To make things worse, Southampton received a late red card. Sulemana shown a straight red for a late tackle.

The victory is a statement to the rest of the league from Leicester. It’s also done a big favour for the Leicester City Championship winner odds that are now at 5/2, making them the favourites.
