Leeds United have been dealt a huge injury blow which could potentially impact their Premier League status as Luis Sinisterra has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Columbian winger was forced off in Leeds’ midweek draw with Leicester City after scoring his third goal in five games.

Having signed in the summer on a five-year contract from Feyenoord with a transfer fee of £21 million, he’s impressed so far at Elland Road and will be a big miss for Leeds in their final games.

Javi Garcia’s side have certainly been on the unfortunate side of injuries this season, and last month lost Tyler Adams to a nasty hamstring injury.

The Spaniard was speaking ahead of Leeds’ clash with Bournemouth on Sunday.

“Luis will be out for the rest of the season. I think it’s something in his ankle, a ligament.

“It’s tough for us to lose key players. I prefer not to complain. I have enough players to compete better and try to work with them and find a way to get results.”

With the loss of Sinisterra, it could certainly have implications on their bid for Premier League survival. The tricky winger has seven goals this season, with three in his last five games.

Leeds did halt a run of three straight defeats on Tuesday, but have only won one of their last six matches sitting one point above the relegation zone.
