PSG began their quest to win a first ever Champions League title with a 2-0 victory over Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in the group of death.

Kylian Mbappe scored his 41st Champions League goal in just 62 games to give the hosts the lead four minutes after the restart – he has now scored or assisted eight goals in his last four group stage outings.

Vitinha set up Achraf Hakimi against his former club from a clever one-two to seal the points ten minutes later, lifting the Parisiens to the top of Group F.

Newcastle and AC Milan shared the points at the San Siro earlier tonight which sends Borussia Dortmund to the bottom and at risk of dropping out of the competition.

PSG looked slick and confident in Tuesday’s Champions League opener in the French capital, bouncing back in terrific fashion from Friday’s 3-2 loss in Ligue 1 against Nice.

With the power of Mbappe, PSG will always be a force amongst Europe’s elite and they have reached the semi-final and beyond in two of the last four seasons, falling to a narrow 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the 2020 final.

Until they can be taken seriously as one of Europe’s best sides, PSG need to prove themselves and win the Champions League – putting an end to one of the most costly expeditions of all-time.
