“The Frenchman was serenaded in true Tyneside fashion, with October rain sweeping through St James’ Park as some 50,000 Geordies bellowed chants from the stands to create a throbbing atmosphere, the like of which is hard to come by.
“PSG’s inability to seize their opportunities in Europe will likely mean Mbappe will never achieve eternal glory in Paris. A move to Real Madrid beckons, as it has done for the past two years whilst Mbappe and PSG continue with the most testing relationship in football.
“But maybe, just maybe the lure of stottie cakes and pan haggerty – which we are sure Mbappe must have sampled on his travels to the North East – could be enough to see him consider a move to Newcastle.
“The love and passion pouring down from the stands is quite the opposite to the grating relationship he has with PSG, and although a move to Newcastle appears unlikely, this latest 4-1 dismantling may have awoken his senses to the joys of Tyneside.”
