The game itself might have not been a thriller, however Kobbie Mainoo’s performance got fans all saying the same thing. We’ve found the best fan reactions on X (formerly Twitter) to his performance.
Man United travelled the short distance to Liverpool, with no one expecting much from the Red Devils. However, Eric ten Hag’s side were able to claim a point at Anfield thanks to solid defending from their latest pairing of Raphaël Varane and Jonny Evans.
Another player who caught the eye of fans is Mainoo. His first taste of Man United vs Liverpool will be one that lives long in his memory.
Mainoo impressing in breakthrough season
Mainoo’s first competitive performance came in the EFL Cup in January. His Premier League debut came a month later as a substitute against Leicester City.
He was included in the Man United pre-season tour at the start of this season and has been pushed into first team action because of injuries to key players.
Mainoo’s first start came against Everton, where his performance impressed fans. Now, back in Merseyside again, his performance has caught the eye of fans.
By starting against Liverpool, Mainoo became the youngest United player to play in the game. It was thought the quality of Liverpool’s attackers might be too much for the young man, however he didn’t let the quality of opposition get to him.
His stats show just how good his performance was at Anfield, and what a talent Man United have.

Kobbie Mainoo is a special talent. United have to incorporate him more and protect him. He’s the only midfielder they have that can remain calm in possession and not hoof the ball. Spectacular performance.
