Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled out a sensational move for Paris Saint-Germain talisman Kylian Mbappe despite being linked to the forward and amid his expected departure from the French capital.

Jurgen Klopp has dismissed reports claiming Liverpool are attempting to prise Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to Anfield.

The German said that he ‘laughs about it’ when he sees reports linking the forward to a Merseyside move, having been touted as a possible destination for a loan move in recent weeks.

Mbappe has one year remaining on his contract with the Parisiens, and despite the Ligue 1 champions wanting to keep hold of him, they do not want him to leave for free next summer – therefore he is officially for sale.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal lodged a world-record £259million bid for the Frenchman last week, and despite PSG accepting the offer, Mbappe reportedly refused to even entertain the offer.

The French champions remain certain that their star man has agreed to join Real Madrid for free next summer upon the expiry of his contract.

It seems as though Liverpool are linked to Mbappe throughout every transfer window, however concrete talks have never taken place.

And after being linked with a move once again this summer, Klopp exclusively told Sky in Germany: “We laugh about it.

“I can say that I think he’s a really good player but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all. I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now…but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it.

“It’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me…that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time.”
