Jurgen Klopp makes three changes as Darwin Nunez comes in for Liverpool to face Aston Villa

Darwin Nunez has been rewarded by his manager for last week’s heroics against Newcastle at St. James’ Park, earning a start this afternoon for Liverpool against Aston Villa.

Klopp has made three changes to the side that snatched an incredible victory on Tyneside, including Nunez for Cody Gakpo and new signing Wataru Endo dropping to the bench in favour of Curtis Jones in midfield.

Virgil van Dijk is now suspended after being shown a straight red card against Newcastle and is replaced by Joe Gomez at centre-back, which places the captain’s armband on the sleeve of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It’s business as usual for Mohamed Salah up front, who was the subject of a £150m bid from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad on deadline day. Their window is still open for another week and a move remains a possibility.

As for the visitors, Unai Emery has made one change to the starting XI which sees Emiliano Martinez return between the sticks following last week’s 3-1 win away at Burnley.
