How does Julian Nagelsmann Tottenham manager sound? Spurs fans will be licking their lips at the thought of bringing in one of the brightest emerging managerial talents in Europe, after he was replaced by compatriot Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich this week.
A dark cloud currently looms over Tottenham as manager Antonio Conte does his best get himself stacked, criticising the current cohort of players for not being hungry enough, while also taking aim at Daniel Levy and the board for a lack of ambition.
With the Italian under extreme pressure, he is as short as 1/5 to be pushed out the door, which would make him the fourth manager in three years to exit the club.
As clubs regroup during the international break, a managerial shake-up is occurring across Europe which could lead to a positive domino effect for Spurs, and present them with a previously unforeseen market opportunity in the shape of Julian Nagelsmann.
Although Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will face Manchester City in a clash of favourites in the Champions League, and still remain in the DFB Pokal, they find themselves in a strangely unfamiliar position in the league, albeit just one point off leaders Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern have won 10 consecutive titles in Germany, and the club’s board clearly have little faith that Naglemann can galvanise his players enough overturn a one-point deficit; baffling we know. Nevertheless, they are replacing him with one of the elite coaches in world football, as Thomas Tuchel makes his return to management following a rather hasty sacking at Chelsea, little over a year after winning the Champions League.

He was just 28 when he took over at Hoffenheim, younger than Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min are now, and once described his approach to coaching as “thirty percent tactics, 70 percent social competence,” which highlights his focus on individual man management – something that looks to be lacking with Conte’s polarising, grating characteristics.
That, coupled with an emphasis on overloading the penalty area when moving into the final-third, and a defensive structure that supports wide attacking full-backs, will suit this current Tottenham side much more than Conte’s cautious 3-4-3 formation.
The mood has been somewhat dull since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019, with Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo and now Conte all lacking the ability to create a feel-good factor amongst supporters.
Although it is unclear whether Nagelsmann would look for an immediate switch to another club following his surprise sacking, there is no doubt he has shot straight to the top of the shortlist alongside the likes of Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino.
Julian Nagelsmann Tottenham Odds: 8/11
