Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann remains Tottenham’s preferred choice to take over as manager despite strong interest in Xabi Alonso.
Bayern sacked Nagelsmann, 35, in a surprising move to many with the German club sitting just one point off league leaders Borussia Dortmund at the time.
They were also in the Champions League quarter-finals but opted for a switch and appointed former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to take the reins in Munich.
Nagelsmann, one of Europe’s most exciting new managers, is now on the market and looking for a job. Spurs have shown heavy interest after sacking Antonio Conte in March.
According to Premier League betting sites, Nagelsmann remains the 6/4 favourite to take the job.

According to Matt Law, club chairman Daniel Levy has identified Nagelsmann as his ideal manager, but the German has refused to consider any offers until he knows who will be Tottenham’s next director of football.
With a number of variables up in the air at Spurs, including Harry Kane’s future at the club with just one year left on his deal, it may be a tough sell to convince Nagelsmann 0f Levy’s project.
In the event Spurs turn to alternatives, Xabi Alonso has been named as someone Levy admires. The former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder currently manages Bayer Leverkusen, who are in the Europa League semi-final.
An immediate move for the Spaniard is unlikely due to the timing of Leverkusen’s season, who attempted to shut down any rumours when asked recently.
