Jude Bellingham’s proposed move to Real Madrid will see the teenager become one of football’s highest paid players with a €1bn release clause.

Los Blancos are reportedly on the verge of making their move for Bellingham official, who will slot into Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos next season.

After missing out on the chance to sign Kylian Mbappe, Madrid president Florentino Perez couldn’t let this one slip and adds a global superstar to the squad.

According to Cadena SER, Bellingham will sign a six-year deal until 2029 which includes a release clause of €1bn (£875m).

He will become the club’s second-highest earner behind Eden Hazard. The transfer fee is yet to be reported, but it’s expected to be in the region of £100m.

With 11 goals and seven assists for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions this year, Bellingham has etched his name alongside football’s elite and the talent is undeniable.

The Birmingham City academy graduate brings balance and cohesion to any midfield, attracting interest from every top club in Europe who would dive at the opportunity of a transfer.

According to Champions League betting sites, Madrid are underdogs to overcome Manchester City and reach the final for a second consecutive season.

Madrid offers Bellingham the best chance at winning the competition, stepping into a major role and becoming the club’s next poster boy following the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Dortmund are currently fighting for the Bundesliga title – so moving to Spain is likely the last thing on Jude Bellingham’s mind.
