Jordan Henderson is being touted around half the Premier League as he looks for a route out of Saudi Arabia, with sources suggesting Bayern Munich and Juventus are also being sounded out about his potential availability this month.
Jordan Henderson Next Club
Henderson, 33, moved from Liverpool in the summer window and insisted his transfer to Al Ettifaq was not about money.
Yet his current deal – reported to be as high as £700,000-a-week – is not proving enough to keep him happy in the Middle East, with sources confirming to SportsLens that he could return to Europe if the right move opens up.
We have been told that Juve and Bayern have been identified as clubs that could bite on such a deal, as they look to strengthen in January.
A move to either side would see Henderson increase his chances of winning a second career league title, with both clubs currently second in Serie A and the Bundesliga.
Premier League Return For Henderson
Fulham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Brighton, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa, Spurs, Arsenal and even Chelsea could all be targeted if Henderson is to find a way back to English football.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has played down the idea of Henderson returning to the Premier League but the combination of poor results, low attendances and waning enthusiasm for the Saudi Pro League is reportedly urging him to look for a way back.
Naturally, he would have to take a significant pay cut if a move to England was to open up again.
Henderson plays under his old Liverpool pal Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq and while things started well enough, the wheels have come off in recent weeks.
The Saudi Pro-League side have played in front of crowds as low as 692 and have not won a game in two months – while scoring just three goals since the end of October.
