American manager Jesse Marsch has been tipped for a new job already, just hours after being shown the door by relegation-battling Leeds United.

Marsch lasted less than 12 months in his post as Leeds United head-coach. The American narrowly avoided the drop to the Championship last term, finishing in 17th place, but has now been sacked, as the Whites sit in 17th place, level on points with 18th place Everton.

Last season, he achieved his goal of survival. Leeds overcame Brentford on the final day to ensure that the club remained in the English top-tier for this season.

This season, however, it hasn’t gone to plan for the 49-year-old. With only four league victories to their name, and a disappointing loss to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, Marsch was given his marching orders.

Where Next For Marsch?

Despite his disappointing tenure in England, Marsch has been tipped to take over as the manager of the United States men’s national team.

In a report, it is believed that Marsch was already a candidate for the American job. Former USMNT head-coach Gregg Berhalter left his post after returning from the recent World Cup.

The report also claims that the United States Soccer Federation had delayed making a decision on their new head-coach, hoping the former Leeds boss would become available for negotiations.

It is believed that Marsch would be very interested in the role, which would likely see him reunited with Leeds’ Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson and Weston McKennie.

Former United States international Eric Wynalda believes that the former Salzburg coach would be the perfect man to take over the national team.

“Jesse is a good fit for several reasons. He’s very familiar with the federation, has a very intelligent approach to scouting and understands the mentality,” Wynalda said.

“[He] has coached numerous American players and will be a breath of fresh air to the media. His tactics are fairly clear and a continuation of his work at his three previous stops – New York Red Bull, Salzburg and RB Leipzig.

“The experiment did not work in Leeds but it might be far better suited to the American roster. The media will enjoy a Jesse marsh return more than anybody… he enjoys the spotlight.”

Up next for Leeds United is back-to-back derbies against rivals Manchester United, with Chris Armas taking charge of the squad.
