After going 5-0 down in 21 minutes to Newcastle, former Premier League defender Jamie Carragher has slammed Tottenham Hotspur – labelling the club ‘a disgrace’.

Jamie Carragher has branded Tottenham “a disgrace” after they went 5-0 down to Newcastle in just 21 minutes.

After losing to Bournemouth last time out, Cristian Stellini decided to switch to a flat back four, with Pedro Porro playing in right-back and Ivan Perisic in left-back.

This is a decision that clearly didn’t work in their favour, with Jacob Murphy opening the scoring after just two minutes.

Joelinton added the second on six minutes, before Murphy scored the best of the bunch in the ninth minute.

Swedish striker Alexander Isak then added the fourth and the fifth in the 19th and 21st minute in an absolutely embarrassing display from Spurs.

Stellini saw fit to substitute Pape Sarr in the 23rd minute, with Davinson Sanchez coming on in his place – reverting to their usual back three.

This stopped the bleeding for the remainder of the first-half, but unfortunately for the travelling Tottenham supporters – the damage had already been done.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher delivered an instant reaction on Twitter, and had some strong words to say about the north London club.

“Newcastle are brilliant, they have been all season,” Carragher said after the Magpies scored their fifth.

“Tottenham are a disgrace!

“How have they gone to a back four for the first time this season, with [Pedro] Porro a full back that can’t defend and [Ivan] Perisic who is a winger,

“Get a proper manager in right now, not [Antonio] Conte’s mate.”
